About ATC / Progression

Build today’s capability for tomorrow’s opportunity.

Progression is not one route. It may mean becoming more confident in your current role, taking on responsibility, gaining a qualification or helping an organisation build a stronger workforce.

The detail

Clear information for a confident next step.

For individual learners

A clear learning pathway can help you identify the knowledge, skills and evidence needed for your next step. Start with the role or responsibility you are working towards, then explore the course and support that fit your situation.

A pathway to discuss

CARE CERTIFICATE → LEVEL 2 → LEVEL 3 → LEVEL 4 → LEVEL 5 → ASSESSOR → INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE. Level 5 is included in ATC’s current approved/registered programme list; Assessor and Internal Quality Assurance remain subject to approval and availability. The pathway is a planning framework, not a guaranteed or automatic progression route.

For employers and partners

ATC works with care providers, local authorities, NHS services and organisations that want a skilled, competent and sustainable workforce. Training can be discussed around roles, standards, delivery needs and the practical context of the team.

Progression needs a conversation

ATC should confirm how each programme contributes to a specific role, qualification or progression route. Completing a course does not by itself guarantee employment, promotion or a regulated outcome.
