Equal Opportunities Policy

Achievers Training College Ltd (ATC) is committed to equal opportunities and to a learning environment where people are treated with dignity, barriers are addressed early and decisions are based on relevant requirements rather than unlawful discrimination. This policy applies to the public enquiry journey and to learning, assessment, support and progression once a learner engages with ATC.

Purpose and scope

Purpose

Set a fair, transparent and practical approach to equal access, respectful treatment, reasonable adjustments and review of concerns.

Scope

Website enquiries and applications, enrolment, teaching, assessment, support, conduct, complaints, work-related learning, certification and progression.

Responsibilities

ATC

Design fair processes, consider barriers, respond to discrimination concerns and confirm policy ownership before approval.

Staff and tutors

Apply criteria consistently, use inclusive practice, implement agreed adjustments and avoid victimisation.

Learners and visitors

Respect difference, raise barriers early and use the correct route for equality, welfare, safeguarding or academic concerns.

How the policy works

  1. Raise a barrier or concern with a tutor or info@achieverstrainingcollege.co.uk, explaining what happened, the impact and the support sought.

  2. ATC will assess urgency, accessibility, safeguarding and academic implications and identify the appropriate policy route.

  3. Consider an adjustment, alternative format, support arrangement, mediation, complaint or appeal where suitable and lawful.

  4. Record proportionate actions, protect confidentiality and review themes without publishing confidential learner information.

ATC will work within the Equality Act 2010 framework and other applicable duties. It will not unlawfully discriminate, harass or victimise a person because of a protected characteristic or another relevant personal circumstance. The policy is a working public draft and must be checked against ATC’s confirmed services, legal duties and operational arrangements before approval.

Where equal opportunities applies

The commitment covers website enquiries, applications, entry requirements, enrolment, teaching, learning materials, assessment, reasonable adjustments, special consideration, conduct, complaints, work-related learning, certification and progression. Employers, placement providers, awarding organisations and other partners may have their own duties and processes; ATC will explain the route that applies to a particular decision.

Fair access and reasonable adjustments

ATC will consider barriers individually and, where reasonable and lawful, provide an adjustment, alternative format, additional support or a different way to access learning. An adjustment must not remove a competence standard or compromise assessment validity. Use the Reasonable Adjustments Policy and Accessibility Statement for the request and review routes.

Unacceptable conduct

Discrimination, harassment, bullying, victimisation, hate-related conduct and exclusion are not acceptable in classes, workplace activity, online spaces or communications with ATC. Concerns may be raised with a tutor or info@achieverstrainingcollege.co.uk. Safeguarding or immediate safety concerns should be reported through the Safeguarding Policy or emergency services without waiting for a complaint process.

Decision-making and records

ATC should use consistent criteria, explain significant decisions and keep proportionate records. Monitoring information, if introduced, must have a confirmed purpose, lawful basis, access controls and retention period: [Monitoring purpose, lawful basis, access controls and retention period: To be confirmed by ATC before publication]. ATC will not publish confidential learner information or internal quality records.

Complaints, review and improvement

A concern about service handling can be raised under the Complaints Policy; an academic decision may also have an Appeals Policy route. ATC will review themes, take proportionate action and update this policy when law, delivery, partnerships or support arrangements change. Policy owner, review date and escalation contact: [To be confirmed by ATC before publication].
