Safeguarding & Inclusion
Learner Welfare Policy
Learner welfare is part of a positive learning experience. ATC aims to notice barriers early, respond with compassion and connect learners with appropriate support. ATC is a training provider, not a medical or counselling service, so urgent or specialist needs may need to be referred to qualified services.

Purpose and scope
Purpose
Help learners remain safe, supported and able to progress by noticing barriers early and signposting appropriate help.
Scope
Learner wellbeing, study barriers, financial or digital difficulty, vulnerability, safeguarding, support arrangements and professional boundaries.
Responsibilities
ATC
Listen respectfully, explain the limits of its role, make reasonable support decisions and signpost specialist or emergency help.
Tutors and staff
Notice changes, maintain boundaries, record relevant information securely and escalate safeguarding risk.
Learners
Ask for help early where possible, use approved channels and tell ATC if agreed support is not working.
How the policy works
Contact a tutor or ATC through the published route and explain the barrier or support sought; no specialist terminology is required.
ATC will listen, assess urgency, consider adjustments or special consideration and signpost a suitable external service where needed.
Where there is immediate risk, contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis service; do not rely on ATC as an emergency service.
Review support and share information only on a need-to-know or safety-required basis.
What support may include
Support may involve a listening conversation, study planning, reasonable adjustments, special consideration, signposting to health or wellbeing services, help contacting an employer or placement, guidance about financial or digital barriers, or a safeguarding referral. Support is based on need, available capacity and the boundaries of ATC’s role.
How to ask for help
Speak to your tutor or contact info@achieverstrainingcollege.co.uk. You can say what is making learning difficult and what kind of help you are looking for. You do not have to use specialist language. If there is immediate risk of harm, contact emergency services or a crisis service in your area.
Vulnerability and safeguarding
ATC will consider whether a learner or another person may be at risk because of abuse, neglect, exploitation, domestic abuse, radicalisation, self-neglect, serious illness or another vulnerability. Safeguarding action may be needed even when a learner does not want information shared, but ATC will explain this where it is safe to do so.
Professional boundaries
Tutors and staff will be supportive, respectful and clear about their role. They must not provide diagnosis, therapy, personal loans, private care or a personal relationship in place of appropriate services. Learners should use approved communication channels and should not feel pressured to disclose more than is needed.
Privacy and continuity
Welfare information will be treated sensitively and shared on a need-to-know basis or where law and safety require. Relevant support may be recorded so that ATC can provide continuity, reasonable adjustments or special consideration. Read the Privacy Notice for more about learner records and rights.
